During a routine surveillance tour along the popular La Paz boardwalk, officers of the Tourist Police encountered an unusual situation at the “La Perla” monument, a prominent feature at the entrance to the tourist pier. A woman was observed taking photographs of herself in the nude at the public landmark.
Officers approached the individual, who identified herself as Olga María Larrea Rodríguez, a 30-year-old nudity activist from Mexico City.
The woman cooperated fully with authorities and was informed that public nudity violates local laws prohibiting acts of exhibitionism. She was subsequently detained and transferred to the municipal police station.
At the station, Ms. Larrea underwent standard procedures, including physical examinations and a breathalyzer test, both of which she passed satisfactorily. Authorities confirmed she was not under the influence of alcohol. Following the completion of these assessments, she was issued a fine of 3,300 pesos in accordance with local regulations.
After paying the fine, Ms. Larrea was released and registered in the National Detention File, as required by law. The Tourist Police emphasized that this intervention aligns with their commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring a respectful environment for all residents and visitors.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to local regulations to support the peaceful coexistence of diverse communities in La Paz.
