CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico — Sept. 2, 2025 (4:10 p.m. local time). Tropical Depression Twelve-E strengthened early Tuesday into Tropical Storm Lorena, now spinning about 250 miles (400 km) south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas as it moves northwest at 15 mph (24 km/h).

Expected impacts in Baja California Sur
Forecasters say light to moderate rain will begin affecting southern Baja California Sur Tuesday evening, with heavier downpours expected Wednesday and Thursday across Los Cabos, La Paz, Comondú, Loreto and Mulegé.
The system could bring thunderstorms, flash flooding in urban areas and swollen arroyos, as well as rough surf and elevated seas along the southern and western coasts. Strong coastal winds are also expected as Lorena nears land.
