Five foreign divers were safely rescued after being reported missing near the northern tip of Espíritu Santo Island in Baja California Sur, authorities said.
According to officials, the incident unfolded yesterday when an emergency call came in reporting that a group of divers had not resurfaced as expected during a recreational outing. The alert triggered an immediate search-and-rescue response.
A helicopter from the La Paz Naval Air Base and a Defender-class patrol vessel from the local Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station were dispatched to the area. Crews conducted a coordinated search pattern and eventually located all five individuals, bringing them aboard without incident.
The divers were transported to the Fourth Naval Zone facilities, where Navy medical staff evaluated their condition. All were found to be stable, without injuries, and were able to leave on their own shortly after the examination.
