LOS CABOS, Mexico — Municipal authorities announced the successful conclusion of a large-scale, multi-agency security operation during Spring Break 2026, reporting a clean slate after four weeks of heavy tourist activity.
The operation, aimed at protecting both residents and an estimated 70,000 young visitors, relied on close coordination between local, state and federal agencies. Security presence was reinforced across high-traffic areas, including beaches, highways and entertainment zones throughout the municipality.
Mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez said the outcome reinforces Los Cabos’ reputation as a safe and welcoming international destination. He noted that visitors from around the world chose the resort area for their vacations, highlighting that public safety remains a key factor in maintaining the region’s global competitiveness.
The effort brought together municipal police, transit officers and public safety units, working alongside the National Guard, Civil Protection and coastal authorities. Emergency responders, including the Red Cross and fire department, maintained constant patrols and rapid-response stations across San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas.
Business leaders and event organizers also praised the operation, crediting authorities for maintaining order in crowded public spaces and commercial areas. Officials said the collaboration between government and the private sector played a critical role in minimizing risks during one of the busiest tourism periods of the year.
