Los Cabos officials deliver aid to families displaced by fire in López Obrador neighborhood

The Los Cabos municipal government provided emergency assistance this week to 15 families affected by a fire that broke out Sunday night in the López Obrador neighborhood of Cabo San Lucas, as local officials continued assessing the damage and working to connect residents with longer-term support.

Through the municipal offices in Cabo San Lucas, the city carried out a special community assistance day aimed at helping families recover from the blaze. Residents received clothing and direct support from staff with the Municipal Department of Citizen Services, the Los Cabos Family Assistance System and the Civil Registry.

Municipal officials said the effort was designed not only to deliver immediate aid, but also to identify each family’s most urgent needs in the aftermath of the fire.

Manuel Guerrero Avilés, director of the Municipal Department of Citizen Services, took part in the outreach effort along with members of his team. Officials met directly with affected residents, listened to their concerns and began routing requests to the appropriate municipal departments for follow-up.

Dulce Martínez Cázarez, Citizen Services coordinator in Cabo San Lucas, said the city will continue working closely with the families after an initial assessment found several priority needs.

She said municipal staff will keep moving forward with requests for assistance, particularly housing-related support for residents who suffered partial or total losses in the fire.

Officials also said service channels will remain open so families can ask questions, receive updates and continue the process of documenting their needs. Several municipal agencies are expected to remain involved as the city follows each case.

The local government said the assistance is part of a coordinated response intended to provide comprehensive support to the families and help them begin recovering from the incident.
