According to police information cited in the report, the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. outside Urbane Cafe on Madera Road. Authorities said the vehicle, carrying an elderly female driver and four children, had been traveling through the Target parking lot when it attempted to turn eastbound, failed to complete the turn, and went over the sidewalk.
When officers arrived, they found the woman pinned underneath the vehicle. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been publicly released.
The driver was taken to a hospital after reporting pain in her chest and arm. Police also said one of the children in the vehicle was taken to a hospital by a family member as a precaution after suffering abrasions.
Video and images from the scene showed the Tesla stopped in an area with outdoor seating for the cafe, surrounded by tables and umbrellas — a chilling reminder of how quickly a peaceful public space can become the scene of a fatal accident.
Authorities confirmed that the investigation is still in its early stages. So far, no arrests have been made, and the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
This tragedy once again raises concern about safety in parking lots, shopping centers and pedestrian areas, where a single mistake behind the wheel can have devastating consequences.
A woman was simply walking on a sidewalk — and in a matter of seconds, her life was lost. A painful reminder for everyone to drive with extreme caution, especially in areas where pedestrians, families and children are present.
