A Del Mar Heights couple is offering a $2,500 reward for information that helps lead to the arrest of a burglar who stole about $85,000 in jewelry from their home in late May.
Martin Caniff said in a phone interview that the burglar entered through a sliding door, which was unlocked, while he and his wife were upstairs. They didn’t realize what had happened until it was too late.
The Caniffs did catch images of the burglar, which they have been trying to spread far and wide in hopes that someone will recognize him, on their Ring camera. Police also posted a video from the camera, which shows the burglar lingering outside the home, shining a flashlight into the camera moments before entering the home.
The San Diego Police Department is asking anyone with information to call (619) 531-2000. The reference case number 24-020253.
“Let’s come together as a community to ensure the safety of our neighborhood and bring justice to the victims,” police wrote in a Facebook post.
