First Case of Monkeypox Confirmed at Cabo San Lucas Hospital

The first case of monkeypox has been confirmed in Baja California Sur at the Social Security Hospital in Cabo San Lucas, according to health officials.

Doctor Juan Jovan Luna from the general hospital, has issued an urgent directive for all staff to enforce the transmission protocol immediately. This includes mandatory mask usage and heightened vigilance for anyone displaying symptoms.

The government of Baja California Sur HEALTH OFFICE reports that monkeypox symptoms include a skin rash lasting 2 to 4 weeks, fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, and fatigue.

While the recently detected case is not severe, officials urge the public to stay vigilant and watch for any signs of the disease.

The institution is already in the study of cases, in order to establish additional measures to limit the transmission of the virus.
