One killed, two injured in rollover crash on Pescadero–Cabo San Lucas highway

Pescadero, Baja California Sur — A fatal rollover accident on Sunday afternoon, August 24, 2025, claimed the life of one man and left two others injured on the Pescadero–Cabo San Lucas highway, authorities confirmed.

The crash happened around kilometer marker 72+300, where a black Toyota Scion without license plates lost control and overturned, sustaining extensive damage.

Emergency responders pronounced 33-year-old Fernando González Fernández, originally from Xalapa, Veracruz, dead at the scene.

The driver, identified as Luis Ángel González Fernández, 24, also from Xalapa and now living in the Palmas neighborhood of Cabo San Lucas, was injured and taken to Juan María de Salvatierra Hospital in La Paz. Another passenger, Aldo Axel Morales Figueroa, 40, originally from Michoacán and also a Palmas resident, was transported to the same hospital with injuries.

Paramedics and the National Guard responded to the scene, while prosecutors opened a case to determine the cause of the crash.

Authorities urged drivers to use caution on this stretch of highway, long known as one of the most dangerous in the region.
