A man who disappeared while fishing off the rocky shore of “Los Orkos” beach was found dead two days later, authorities confirmed. A forensic examination determined the cause of death was accidental drowning with no signs of recent injuries or foul play.
According to early reports, at around 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, the man had been fishing along the coast between the communities of Migriño and Elías Calles when a strong wave swept him off the rocks and pulled him into the sea.
Witnesses shouted for him to swim back, but he never resurfaced.
On Monday afternoon, November 3, local police in Cabo San Lucas received a call reporting a body floating offshore, which was later recovered by members of the Mexican Navy.
Investigators from the State Forensic Services and the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the Naval Sector area near Marina Boulevard, where they confirmed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition. The remains were transferred to the State Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for an autopsy.
The State Attorney General’s Office of Baja California Sur later stated that forensic specialists concluded the man died from accidental drowning in natural waters. The victim, identified as a 35-year-old man from the state of Puebla, showed no evidence of violence.
Officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining transparency and ensuring that all investigations adhere to the legal framework designed to uphold justice across the state.
