Victim Had Been Missing Since Kayak Outing
A man discovered dead on a beach in Bahía Tortugas on Sunday, November 16, died from drowning, according to authorities. The body was located shortly after noon in the area known as Campo Pesquero San Cristóbal, following a 911 call reporting a lifeless person along the shoreline.
Investigators who arrived at the scene confirmed the report and identified the victim as Michel “N,” who had been reported missing on November 13 after heading out on a kayak trip and never returning. Crime scene technicians processed the area, gathering evidence before transferring the body to the local Medical Examiner’s Office.
A forensic autopsy later determined that the cause of death was asphyxia due to submersion. The victim was a 41-year-old man from San Francisco, California.
State prosecutors said the investigation remains open as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
