- Three weekly flights expected to grow tourism and investment
Baja California Sur is expanding its international air network with a new flight linking Panama and San José del Cabo. The route, operated by Copa Airlines, launches Thursday, December 4, and will run three times a week — on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays — according to the state’s Secretary of Tourism and Economy, Maribel Collins.
State officials say the connection is the result of joint efforts with the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) to strengthen the region’s presence in Central and South American markets. Collins called the new service a strategic move to bring in more international visitors, encourage investment and expand business ties in a fast-growing region.
The launch follows the November 3 return of seasonal nonstop flights between Frankfurt and Los Cabos on Condor Airlines, which started with 285 European travelers and will continue operating through April 6.
Tourism leaders emphasize that each new air link boosts the state’s economic opportunities by widening access and creating new business for local communities.
“Connectivity is a key driver of tourism development,” Collins said. “We’ll keep forging partnerships that help position Baja California Sur — and especially Los Cabos — as a competitive, accessible and global destination.”
