Canadian resident loses home as investigators look into cause
A mobile home was destroyed by fire Sunday afternoon in the Cerritos area of El Pescadero, after authorities spotted a column of smoke during a routine patrol and rushed to the scene.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, when security personnel conducting surveillance in the area noticed the smoke and immediately responded. Upon arrival, they found the motor home fully engulfed in flames and called for assistance from the fire department.
Firefighters arrived minutes later with a fire engine and were able to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties. Despite their efforts, the structure was deemed a total loss.
Authorities spoke with the homeowner, Mirjana, a 61-year-old Canadian national, who was affected by the incident. No injuries were reported, and officials said there were no further hazards once the fire was extinguished.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities said.
