Rossetti is not only an ordained priest; he is also a psychologist and the leader of the St. Michael Center for Spiritual Renewal, an institution that serves people seeking spiritual healing and deliverance.
The dispute exploded after Rossetti made public comments about aliens, UFOs and demons.
According to the report, Rossetti said that belief in extraterrestrial life can be compatible with Catholic teaching. However, he also suggested that many UFO sightings may actually be demonic in nature, arguing that such entities can do things humans cannot, including moving at extraordinary speeds.
The Archdiocese of Washington responded strongly, saying his statements linking UFOs to demonic activity, along with the center’s recent use of social media, “gravely undermine” Church teaching on the devil, demons and exorcism.
The case is especially striking because the Catholic Church has no formal doctrine on extraterrestrial life. Still, the possibility of intelligent life beyond Earth has long created theological debate among Christians: Would aliens be part of God’s creation? Could they have souls? Or are some unexplained phenomena spiritual deceptions?
Rossetti later said he was “saddened” by the decision and asked forgiveness for any way he may not have been faithful to the Church’s Magisterium.
The big question remains:
Are UFOs signs of extraterrestrial life, secret technology, unexplained natural phenomena… or something darker that humanity still does not fully understand?
