After two pedestrians in Pacific Beach were gravely injured, a drunk driver fled and was apprehended

San Diego Police on Sunday caught a drunk driver who was running from the scene after two pedestrians were struck and critically injured in a crossing in Pacific Beach.

The man and lady were crossing Grand Avenue at Bayard Street when they were struck by the car shortly after two in the morning.

A Ford Explorer struck them, sending them flying. After driving off, the motorist was stopped in the 3700 block of Ingraham Street.

After undergoing an intoxicated test, he was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run crimes.

The suspect's identity as well as those of the two victims were not made public right away.
