Flight schedules across the Pacific Airport Group (GAP) network are facing major disruptions after a global safety alert prompted airlines to ground Airbus A320 aircraft and install an urgent software update.
Airbus notified all operators of the A320 family to immediately update onboard software following reported communication system failures. According to technical experts, the issues appear to be linked to recent intense solar activity, which may have interfered with the aircrafts’ computer systems responsible for navigation and in-flight communication.
Low-cost carriers Viva Aerobus and Volaris, both of which operate extensively across GAP airports, said travelers should expect delays, cancellations, and schedule adjustments over the next 48 to 72 hours while the preventive measures are carried out and the aircraft are cleared to return to service.
GAP officials stressed that passenger safety remains the top priority. Airport customer-service teams will be assisting travelers on site as airlines work through the systemwide disruptions.
Passengers with upcoming flights are strongly urged to stay in direct contact with their airline for real-time updates before heading to the airport.
While airports remain open, operations are being adjusted as carriers temporarily ground affected aircraft to ensure safe flying conditions.
