Vehicle Fire Near Gas Station in Todos Santos Leaves SUV Destroyed


TODOS SANTOS — A vehicle fire broke out Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 17, 2025, in the coastal community of Todos Santos, prompting a swift response from local police, firefighters and federal authorities.

The incident was reported by a resident shortly after 12:25 p.m., alerting emergency services to a vehicle engulfed in flames near a gas station in the area. Municipal police officers arrived within minutes, around 12:30 p.m., finding firefighters already on scene working to bring the blaze under control.

Driver escapes safely as flames spread

After several minutes, crews were able to extinguish the fire, though the vehicle was declared a total loss. According to information gathered at the scene, the driver said he noticed smoke coming from the engine while driving and pulled over. When he opened the hood, the vehicle caught fire, apparently due to an electrical malfunction. The vehicle was identified as a black 1996 Jeep Cherokee.

National Guard assists; no injuries reported

Paramedics evaluated the driver at the scene and determined he had not been injured and did not require medical treatment. He was able to exit the vehicle before the fire spread.

Members of the National Guard also responded to provide assistance and ultimately took over the scene. Municipal units cleared the area at about 1:09 p.m. No injuries were reported.
